Biblical Archaeology Israel Tour
Day 1: Arrival & Tel Aviv Gateway
Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport and transfer to your hotel in Tel Aviv.
Afternoon/Evening: Shake off your travel fatigue by exploring Old Jaffa, one of the world's oldest functional port cities. Walk through the ancient archaeological excavations at Ramses II Gate, step onto the historic harbor mentioned in the Book of Jonah, and enjoy dinner overlooking the Mediterranean coastline.
Day 2: Coastal Ports & Prophetic Ridges
Morning: Drive north along the Mediterranean coastal highway to Caesarea Maritima. Walk through King Herod’s sweeping Roman metropolis, focusing on the ancient theater, the hippodrome, and the remains of the Herodian palace where the famous Pontius Pilate inscription was discovered.
Afternoon: Continue to Mount Carmel (Muhraqa), the traditional site where Elijah challenged the prophets of Baal. Enjoy panoramic views of the Jezreel Valley before driving down into the valley to explore Tel Megiddo (Armageddon), a strategic UNESCO site displaying over twenty layers of ancient civilizations, including Solomon's stables and an ingenious Iron Age water tunnel.
Evening: Drive to the Sea of Galilee region for your overnight stay.
Day 3: Canaanite Fortresses & Northern Citadels
Morning: Drive to the pristine Tel Dan Nature Reserve. Walk along the headwaters of the Jordan River to uncover the massive mudbrick Canaanite Gate (Abraham's Gate) dating back 4,000 years, alongside the Iron Age Israelite city walls and the ritual high place established by King Jeroboam.
Afternoon: Head east to Caesarea Philippi (Banias) at the foot of Mount Hermon to view the rock-cut shrines dedicated to the Greek god Pan. Follow this with a short drive to Tel Hazor National Park, the massive Bronze Age Canaanite capital destroyed by Joshua, where you can inspect a monumental palace and a thick ash destruction layer confirming biblical accounts.
Evening: Return to your base in the Galilee for a relaxing evening by the lake.
Day 4: Valley Battles & The Mountain Ascent
Morning: Leave the Galilee and drive south through the Jordan Rift Valley. Stop at Beit She’an National Park, an incredible archaeological crossroad where the bodies of King Saul and his sons were hung on the city walls, later transformed into a monumental Roman-Byzantine decapolis city.
Afternoon: Journey west toward the historic foothills of Samaria to visit Ancient Shiloh, the first capital of Israel where the Tabernacle and the Ark of the Covenant rested for over three centuries. Walk through the active excavation fields to see ancient storage jars and sacrificial boundaries.
Evening: Begin your historic ascent up the mountain passes to Jerusalem for your overnight stay.
Day 5: Royal Foundations & Temple Steps
Morning: Enter the City of David, the ancient core of Jerusalem. Walk through the monumental stone structures believed to be King David's palace, descend into Warren's Shaft, and wade through the 2,700-year-old Hezekiah's Tunnel, a water aqueduct hand-carved out of solid bedrock to safeguard the city from Assyrian siege (bring a flashlight and water shoes!).
Afternoon: Emerge at the Pool of Siloam and follow the ancient Herodian Pilgrimage Road up to the Davidson Center (Southern Wall Archaeological Park). Stand directly on the Southern Steps of the Temple Mount, the primary monumental entrance used by prophets, priests, and pilgrims in antiquity.
Evening: Take a pre-booked evening tour through the Western Wall Tunnels to trace the massive, monolithic foundation stones deep beneath the modern city streets.
Day 6: Hidden Chronicles & Dead Sea Discoveries
Morning: Start your morning inside the Old City walls at the Pools of Bethesda and the adjacent Crusader Church of St. Anne, a site featuring deep archaeological reservoirs connected to ancient healing traditions.
Afternoon: Drive out of Jerusalem and descend into the stark Judean Desert to Qumran National Park. Explore the ancient settlement ruins where a breakaway Jewish sect lived, and look out at the desert cliffside caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls—the oldest known biblical manuscripts—lay hidden for centuries.
Evening: Continue to the shores of the Dead Sea for an effortless float in the hyper-saline waters before settling into your evening lodging.
Day 7: Wilderness Strongholds & Judaean Foothills
Morning: Ascend the isolated mountain plateau of Masada via cable car. Explore King Herod's winter palace-fortress, complete with Roman-style bathhouses, massive storerooms, and intricate mosaics, while learning the tragic archaeological story of the Jewish zealots who held out against the Roman Tenth Legion.
Afternoon: Drive toward the rolling hills of the Shephelah (Judaean foothills). Stop in the historic Valley of Elah, where the young David faced Goliath, and comb the dry riverbed for smooth stones. Continue to Tel Lachish to climb the remains of Judah’s second most important fortified city, inspecting the monumental Assyrian siege ramp built by King Sennacherib.
Evening: Return to Jerusalem for a celebratory final night in the capital.
Day 8: Ancient Artifacts & Departure
Morning: Spend your final morning exploring the world-renowned Archaeology Wing at the Israel Museum. View the legendary Dead Sea Scrolls inside the Shrine of the Book, inspect the massive 1:50 scale model of Second Temple-period Jerusalem, and see the authentic Tel Dan Inscription ("House of David").
Afternoon transfer directly to Ben Gurion Airport for your departure flight home.
